what's the current jw stance on retirement savings?
i know it changed.
pre1975 it was an attitude of "don't worry about retirement, this system is ending soon".
i never worried about a pension plan--and needed everything i earned to live on.
My old dad had a good job--with a company pension plan. Although he was a loyal JW--he never wasted time pioneering, but he did contribute a LOT of ££ to the cult--including £5000 to help fund a hall. His main asset was his house--plus cash savings.
He left the lot to me in his will.
so after being rudely awakened by a cat fight outside (it's 3am here in the uk) and then proceeding to go outside to rescue my cats from the neighbourhood tom....... i'm now laying wide awake trying to make sense of jw "truth".
(it's all my mind does these days, the lights gone on and won't turn off).

whatever we think of the watchtower cult--the fact is the people behind the people who appear to be running the show--are not stupid. Not when billiions of $$ are involved.

when i was serving as an elder, it because relatively common to hear of wild drunken house parties of witness youths.
i investigated one, it was so bad that the cops turned up and found empty bottles of whiskey on the lawn and smashed out on the road.
but every led went cold, with all the kids clamming up.
fast forward to mid 90's--i was talking to a fence sitting jw--who said the kids were holding " get outta the truth" parties.

sunday evenings after a circuit arsembly--crowds of teenage kids would "congregate" for a house party in Birmingham UK mid 60s. I was usually the organiser. No elders back then though.

of course there is one true religion....its the one you believe in, Nobody would claim their religion is false--would they ?
However--if--like me you believe that god is a myth--then all religion is false--and everyone is happy.

i think "Sue" is the same troll weve had on here a few times in recent years. Usually about marital issues--with bizarre twists--gets a good few replies till we spot the errors.
